Calling out the next MasterCraft Protour competitor for wakeboard camp. Bay Area WaterSports will be hosting a 3 day camp for all ages for 3 days at the end of July. We finally have enough water in the local lakes to host the camp. Noted local pros will be helping out.
TUES/WED/THURS from 9AM - 4 PM
$350 per participant.
2 or more wakeboarders are $300ea.
Lunch each day is included!

Wake On… Dustin Sean White 1991-2009

Thought I'd share a story about Dustin...as an original member of the team Dustin was an exceptional athlete and as you can see "GO BIG" was his life's motto. Dustin's presence at any event would mean a higher level of intensity for everyone who was there...he simply had this dynamic charisma about him that infected all who new him.

Ok, so being a kid that grew up around water all my life, this story is one that now comes to light after such a travesty. A few years ago after one of our events I had this old memory to re-kindle and decided to make a saucer board (approx 3 ft Dia x 1/2" plywood disc) for my son's. I thought this would inspire them to learn how to water-ski, after all this was how I learned to ski. Well the day I finished making the saucer board Dustin just happen to be hanging around the lake…

...you see Dustin had the reputation of being a "wake whore" …meaning he was always seeking anybody with the means to create a wake and as soon as that boat ran out of gas he was off to find another...as I look back its more apparent that he was just friends with everyone and thus it seemed he was on or behind any boat on any given day…young or old Dustin would converse with you and share his uplifting personality with all who would listen…

Now back to the saucer board, as I set out on the first pull (being I was always the guinea pig growing up) I passed by the Perrone's boat and noticed Dustin had this peculiar look on his face like "I gotta try that". So when we stopped back by I asked who wanted to try it out, looking at Dustin the whole time. Of course he was one of those kids that instinctly said "I can do that, no problem" so I replied are you sure you can handle it, just joking with him? As he began to stand up heading outside the wake he was abruptly thrown off, he had no control of its spinning characteristics! Oh boy we laughed so hard, it was absolutely the funniest thing because he assumed that a saucer board was so easy to ride. He approached it in full Dustin fashion "going big" and of course I had to rub it in knowing I rode it with no issues at all. So as I explained to him the tricks to control it, he was inspired to try it again and found self-control applied to more than just wakeboarding.

The moral of the story actually has several points…
1) Never assume anything, approach all situations with caution and respect.
2) Positively inspire our youth by example as often as you can.
3) Self control is key to survival.

You have simply achieved the highest "Railey" any of us would hope to and will not be forgotten…

Note: Dustin's first wake sport listed on his team profile was "saucer board" :)

...ok so after last weekends re-visit to Spine Wakesurfing we asked...

What if we maxed out two of the best wakesurf setups on the lake and maximize the spine! ...hmmmm? ...well here it is folks! ...and it went something like this...

Boat #1 - Ryan Bates Malibu VLS to the Starboard side with 500 in the nose to one side, wedge down, center factory ballast full, and 500 in the V-locker! 1 person driving.

Boat #2 - Steve Robbins Maristar 230 VRS to the Port side with a 400 & 150 brick in the nose on one side, 1500lb fat seat on the floor to one side, and a 750 in the port side V-locker! 2 person, driver and passenger (photog) on opposing sides.

...all I can say is WOW!!!! ..that was well worth it! The ride was tricky but once you felt the variances in push it was a blast!

Spine Wakesurfing!

...this weekend was certainly that time of the year for wakesurfing, at a brisk 68 water temp and a sunny 74 out on Lake Saxon and hardly anyone on the lake! We started out in my loaded up (2500+lbs) Maristar 230 VRS for an EPIC day of surfing. Little did we know a fellow LOLWAKE boat (Crescents Air Nautique 210) comes up next to us and forms an sick spine! Yeh this was going to be another memorable day of spine surfing on lake saxon! Far better conditions than a few years ago and the level of riding was there to take it all in!

...after an unexpected scheduling conflict with Adrenalina to ride the Flow Rider, we stop off at the Lakeland Hooter's for some grub. Big props for "Amanda" and the ladies of the local Hooter's for showing us much love with a reverse swerve on the ole' birthday gag! The boys thought they were going to be serenaded by the waitresses, however they had something better for these young lads! They made each of them wear beaks and stand on a chair for a quaky good time!

Board Paradise - I Think NOT!

Well I've felt compelled to inform you of a bad experience recently with an online store front called "Board Paradise". The level of disappointment and frustration in dealing with these people absolutely floored me, therefore I can only hope that warning others will repent the attitudes of those running such a poor online retail service!

I've been eying a new wakeskate lately which lead me to a division of the company above called Woody's Garage were I had tracked down what seemed to be a good deal on several wakeskates. The price was great, shipping was free, and the transaction seemed just like any other online retailer. That is until six days (Wed Nov 7) went buy and I did not receive a notice my order shipped even though I re-checked the items I ordered were in stock both on the website and on my invoice confirmation and they indicated delivery by 10 working days. So in anticipation of riding my new sticks before the weekend I called and requested a tracking number. Of course no one answered and I had to leave a message. Now it was time to check the credit card, yep they charged the full amount and my order confirmation indicated a ok. Now let's see on the 10th day I got a call that indicated they don't have my second board and I would need to choose another before they would ship the order, and they indicated twice they had it in stock but some one sold it out from under me!?!....ok I'll spare you the rest of the details because it's way to much for me to write!

Needless to say I finally received one of my original boards on Nov 14th (Day 14) and was forced to get a store credit for a board that was said to be in stock! ...this buy the way is what the issue really is..I just wanted my money back for the second wakeskate, but they insisted that's not policy and then added 20% to my credit to attempt to please the customer, well that's were things really got ridiculous! I got put on hold, no one answered the phone to re-order another board, the phone was hung up on me they tried to sell me into another board they had, played phone hold game , and the worst part was most of the items they indicate are in stock aren't! ..and they admitted it on the phone! I was on a wild goose chase getting no where with these people when I finally gave up and found a skate they would send, it turned out to be a demo board! ...errrrr!

IT'S A SALES TRAP...or should I say VERY bad sales tactics!!!

Online retailers exist and succeed because they have GREAT customer service!!!!

BUYER BEWARE!!! DO NOT SHOP WITH ANY BOARD PARADISE online retailers!!!!

Lake Francis of Lake Placid, FL

Much love to the Skinoee Ski Team of Lake Placid Florida! Our trip down on Lake Francis to test the waters for a potiental tourney was welcomed buy some pretty cool kneeboarders, check for pics soon! That's right kneeboarding! ...you should see it for yourself chic's and all!

The sessions of wakesurfing were tight, including the old guys shreading a few 360's like the "Big Dog" Todd and Steve taking turns hashing out the phat wake dished up on Lake Francis! ...sure wish we had the 750's in the v-lockers though :(

...and of corse the Perrone boys showing off to the locals ;)

Look out for LOLWAKE Team to hit Lake Placid, FL like a Cat 5 Hurricane this fall!

I would like to introduce you to the Land o Lakes Butter Effect Wake Team. Our team consist of local kids and young adults that are passionate about water sports. The water sports our team are active in are Wake Boarding, Wake Skating, and Wake Surfing. The water sports industry is very unique in that the fan base is very strong within it's surrounding communities yet still reaching far beyond its boundaries. The formation of our team was the result of this past season's group effort within the community to collectively associate the talent that has stemmed from the Land o Lakes area. Our team has traveled all around the state of Florida competing in Grass Root (small town) events with impressive results, some times taking each event by 2 and 3 podium finishes in multiple categories! The Butter Effect stands for the original roots by which the township was named after (the butter), however this term is also used in the water sports industry describing the calm smooth waters of the Lakes which provides the "Effect" of the perfect training grounds to which our team has leveraged to it's advantage. Some of our team riders have excelled to the National and World levels with hopes for future Professional Careers and possible Olympic dreams!

The Land o Lakes Butter Effect Wake Team would like to offer sponsorships to these local and talented athletes as a group to share in the passion that they all live for. You can help in this community effort by donating to the very foundation these athletes are supported by.
